課程概述 |
“Listening and Speaking Skills” is a course intended to review, consolidate, and expand students’listening and speaking skills and strategies. It is tailor made especially for non-English majors at an intermediate level (with a minimum vocabulary body of 7,000 words) who wish to develop conversational as well as intellectual listening and speaking ability. This course will focus on journalistic English (BBC Learning English) and occasionally dabble in business English and literature. The class will be organized around discussions, presentations, and light-hearted impromptu speeches & performances, all of which are designed to be collaborative throughout. Assignments will include transcripts of challenging materials, shadow reading, and presentations of assigned topics with PowerPoint.

課程目標 |
1.Expose students to spoken language, aiming to increase students'“comfort level” with both British and American English at natural speed.
2.Provide journalistic reading and listening which contain new and interesting information.
3.Present a large quantity and variety of practice.
4.Use BBC news to help students broaden their horizon of knowledge.
5.Use follow-up work, including pair/group work activity, to reinforce language learning and increase student involvement.
